AT&T is one of the largest cellular operators in the United States and has almost the same coverage as Verizon with the almost same number of subscribers and market share. The fastest network of AT&T is consistently ranked as one of the best for coverage, reliability, and speed. As per the latest report published by OpenSignal, the average download speed of 4G bandwidth of AT&T is 32.7Mbps as compared to Verizon’s 27.4Mbps however 5G bandwidth speed of Verizon is much higher (506.1Mbps) as compared to AT&T’s 62.7Mbps).

AT&T Mobile Share Plans:

AT&T has two mobile share plans, 3GB and 9GB at high speed, and then unlimited data at slower speed of 128Kbps. Both plans allow unlimited talk and text in the USA including Mexico. Both plans include hotspot and rollover of unused data to next month.

The 3GB mobile share plan costs $50 per month with auto-pay for one line and for two lines, it costs $80 per month. The 9GB mobile share plan costs $60 and $100 per month for one and two lines respectively.

AT&T Unlimited Plans:

There are three plans, Starter, Extra, and Elite plans. The Starter Unlimited plan costs $65 per month for one line and $120 per month for two lines. The Plan allows the SD streaming of video plus unlimited talk and text from the US to more than 120 countries.

The Extra unlimited plan costs $75 per month for one line and $130 per month for two lines. The plan allows 50GB of premium data and 15GB of mobile hotspot data. If you have 5G compatible device then you can enjoy 5G data speed also in select areas. This Plan allows SD streaming only plus unlimited talk and texting from US to more than 120 countries.

The Elite unlimited plan is more suitable who love to watch HD videos on move. This plan costs $85 per month for one line and $150 per month for two lines. 100GB premium data and 30GB mobile hotspot data allowed. If you have 5G compatible device then you can enjoy 5G data speed also in select areas. This Plan allows unlimited talk and texting from US to more than 120 countries.

The main attraction of the Elite plan is HBO Max™, which allows you to enjoy all of HBO with even more movies and series, plus new Max Originals on your compatible device.

Discounts to teachers, nurses & physicians, Military & Veterans, first responders

AT&T is giving back 25% discounts on the unlimited starter, extra, and elite wireless plans (that’s up to a $50/month discount for 4 lines on AT&T Unlimited Elite) to America’s teachers, nurses, and physicians, and their families, first responders, military, and veterans.

AT&T Prepaid Plans:

For regular new customers, AT&T has four Prepaid plans as follows

  • $30/mo prepaid plan that offers 5GB high-speed data plus unlimited talk+text.
  • $40/mo prepaid plan that offers 15GB high-speed data plus unlimited talk+text.
  • $65/mo prepaid plan that offers Unlimited high-speed data plus unlimited talk+text. The price reduces to $50 for the auto-pay option.
  • $75/mo prepaid plan that offers Unlimited high-speed data plus unlimited talk+text. The price reduces to $60 for the auto-pay option.

The 8GB data prepaid plan costs $40 per month with auto-pay and includes unlimited talk and text. If you pay 3 months’ costs of this prepaid plan in advance, then AT&T gives a heavy discount. Instead of $150, if you pay just $99, you can enjoy this plan for three months. If you are willing to keep this plan for 6 months, you have to pay just $180 only. Further, if you pay $300, AT&T will allow you 8GB data for 12 months. So effectively if you pay for 3 months, plan costs $33 per month and for 12 months payment, it costs just $25 per month.

AT&T Signature Program Service Discount

Under the AT&T Signature Program Service Discount, you may get discounts, if you are a qualified employee, students & other authorized individuals associated with eligible companies, universities & other sponsoring organizations with a qualifying service agreement (Business Agreement). The discount is available for select plans only.

The Monthly $20 (3GB plan) or $30 (9GB plan) discount is applied to the mobile share plan if you have only one phone line on a multi-line plan. Discount starts w/in 2 bill cycles. Additionally, discount of $10 per month for one line and $20 per month for two or more phone lines for Auto-pay is also allowed.

Verdict:

If you love to watch TV shows on move, you may subscribe to unlimited plan, especially Elite plan that includes HBO Max™. If you are not interested to watch TV channels on move on your phone, then prepaid plan is a good choice. Activation fee $45 per phone, including if you bring your own, is very high among four major carriers but based on OpenSignal’s report, you may opt AT&T for its fastest network of Unites States.

AT&T has made its prepaid plans cheaper for those, who pay for multi-month costs at once. Six-month plan costs $180 while twelve-month payment for an 8GB prepaid plan reduces the effective cost just half i.e. $25 per month only.
