We are very much familiar to 
use short codes in India, like, the most frequently used short code is 100, which is allotted to Police Control room, then 101 to get help in case of fire but now a days more public services have been launched in India for which new short codes have been allotted. Basically these short codes are very useful to remember and in case of emergency, they helps a lot to get the help.
The list of new short codes, which are allotted in year 2014, is compiled herewith , most of them have already implemented and people are using it. Some of them are free i.e. when you will call these short codes, you will not be charged anything. Some of them are also available on STD codes.
All short codes are accessible from any phone of any operator in India.
