Now almost all operators offer unlimited data plans with certain data usage at high speed at 3G/4G speed and thereafter unlimited data usage at a slower speed at 2G. The price of plans depends on data usage at high speed and on average, and all operators offer 1.5 GB data usage daily with 84 to 90 days plan, costing in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 600 so the cost of a 1GB data plan usage per day costs approx Rs 5 per day.

Surprisingly Vodafone has reduced tariffs of 3G data plan for their prepaid customers only in Chennai and Tamilnadu circle and offers 1GB of 3G data plan for just Rs 124 while the same 1GB data plan costs Rs 250 to postpaid customers.
Recently Tata DoCoMo has also introduced a 1GB data plan for Rs 175 which comes with a validity of 30 days while its double data plan of Rs 255 offers 2GB of data usage.
Reliance Communications started to lower the 3G tariff and customers enjoyed 1GB from Reliance by paying Rs 123 only. BSNL responded to this move of Reliance and also reduced the tariff of 3G data plans and is still offering 1GB of data plan for Rs 139 for its prepaid customers and postpaid customers pay Rs 125 for a 1GB add-on pack.
But when other operators didn’t respond, Reliance again hiked the tariff of the 3G data pack and now its cost of a 1GB data plan costs Rs 156.
Airtel and Idea still sell a 1GB data pack in the price range of Rs 250 while Aircel offers 1GB for Rs 198.

We can see, now Vodafone has the cheapest 1GB data plan, and BSNL stands in the second number. Tata DoCoMo matched the rate with MTNL, Delhi and both are in the fourth position in the list.
The main important point to consider in the use of a 3G data plan, is the quality of coverage of the 3G network at your place so decide accordingly.
