Brief compare: LG’s G-Pad 8.3 with iPad mini-2 tablet

South Korean giant LG, the third largest smartphone maker launched a high resolution tablet G-Pad 8.3 after a gap of two year, just to taken on its rival’s Apple’s iPad mini-II tablet of similar size 7.9 inch. LG-G-Pad-8.3-tabletBoth tablets LG G Pad 8.3 and iPad Mini are going to fight in tough competition, as the specs of these two devices are intended to naught on each other’s market share. iPad mini-2 is  also expected to be launched this month itself.

Let us briefly review both with  key specifications of G-Pad 8.3 and iPad mini-2

Display: LG’s G-Pad tablet has 8.3 screen with sharper WUXGA IPS display of resolution of 1920×1200 pixel with pixel density of 273 ppi which is better than Apple’s iPad mini-2, that is having 7.9 inch screen with retina display having resolution of 1024×768 pixel with 163 ppi pixel density.

Processor: G-Pad 8.3 is powered by 1.7GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor while iPad mini-2 is said to be build around A7 quad core processor.iPad_mini

RAM: G-Pad will come with 2GB RAM while iPad mini-2 will sport 1GB RAM only.

Internal Memory: G-Pad 8.3 will come with internal memory of 16GB expandable up to 64GB via micro SD card while it is expected iPad mini will also be launched as earlier, in three variants of 16/32 and 64 GB of internal memory which can further be expanded up to 128GB.

Operating System: G-Pad will run on latest version of Android Jelly Bean v4.2.2 while it is rumored that iPad mini will also run iOS7

Camera: G-Pad features a 1.3 MP front camera without flash and rear camera of 5MP with facility to record HD videos. iPad mini-2 will sport 8MP sensor fitted on rear side.

Special feature: iPad mini 2 may have touch ID fingerprint scanner for secure access by creating a passcode while G-Pad will has many special feature like QPair which allow the user to paid G-Pad tablet with another smartphone or tablet and then receive calls and messages using G Pad, another special feature is Slide Aside which is a multitasking feature and make the user convenient to slide a running  apps off to the side of the display and One more KnockON which allows the user to wake the display by tapping on it twice only instead of sweeping.

Price and availability: LG G Pad 8.3, Wi-Fi version will be sold for $510 from 14 October-2013 in South Korea and this will be available in 30 more countries by the end of this year while iPad mini is also expected to be launched next week and price of iPad mini could be same as its earlier version i.e for its Wi-Fi models, 16GB version may be priced £269, 32GB version may be priced £349 , 64GB version may be priced £429 and 128GB version may cost £509
