After acquisition of WhatsApp by Facebook for worth $19 billion recently, WhatsApp has finally rolled out its much awaited Privacy Setting first time by which you can now hide “Last Seen” timestamp on your android phones (This feature is already available in Hike apps under its privacy setting). Till now a third party app was being used by the users who don’t want to display the information about when they last used the app.
The Privacy setting has been introduced in its new version 2.11.169 which is available on its official website at www.whatsapp.com/Android/current/WhatsApp.apk
Open this link on your smartphone, it starts downloading, follow the instructions till WhatsApp updated on your smartphone.
If you have not yet placed profile picture on WhatsApp, first of all, new updated version of app, place your facebook profile picture as profile picture on your WhatsApp app.
Now you can change “Last Seen” timestamp under “Who can see my personal info”option by selecting Privacy option under Setting and then Account as shown in the screenshot.

You can select any one option among will see the ‘Last Seen’ option here, with three options – Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody.
If you select “Nobody”, then no one can see the information, when you last used the app but you will also be not able to see the same information “Last Seen” of others.
New version also offers privacy feature for your “Profile photo” and “Status” under the Privacy menu with same three options as is for “Last Seen”
For iPhones users, it is very simple to hide “Last Seen” , Open WhatsApp and then select setting and go to Chat settings. Select Advanced and here you just have to toggle the ‘Last Seen Timestamp’ to ‘Off’ as shown in below screenshot.
The new version also allow the users to pay “the subscription fee” of WhatsApp for any number stored in your contact list (The use of app is free for one year but after that a subscription fee is to paid for use of the app. It is Rs 53.19 for one year, Rs 145.38 for 3 years and Rs 202.01 for 5 years). For this you just to go to settings, then contacts and select “Pay for a friend”.
