Straight Talk new Platinum Unlimited Plan: fine print

Straight Talk, a multi-carrier MVNO of the United States provides by using the telecom network of all three major carriers, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. It offers no-contract plans at a more reasonable price as compared to major carriers and peers MVNOs.

Straight Talk introduced a new “Platinum” unlimited plan for a price of $65/mo which says that you can use unlimited data but after crossing 60GB data during a month, you may experience slower download speed. You are also eligible to use 20GB Hotspot data.

Other features of Platinum unlimited plan are

  • Unlimited talk, text, and data
  • 100GB of Cloud Storage
  • HD Video streaming
  • International calling

Straight Talk has a plethora of options for other affordable plans, you can select the plan as per your need. Have a look

  • The $30/mo plan offers 1500 minutes of talk time, unlimited text, and few 100MB of high-speed data which may double if you auto-refill.
  • The $35/mo plan offers unlimited talk and texts plus the first 5GB of high-speed data.
  • The $45/mo plan offers unlimited talk and texts plus the first 25GB of high-speed data.
  • The $55/mo unlimited high-speed data plan which also allows 10GB hotspot data and SD video streaming. If you auto-refill it for 3 months, it may cost you just $50 per month.
  • The $60/mo unlimited international plan is also available which allows 25GB high-speed data thereafter at 2G speed.

Straight Talk gives liberty to choose the best network as per location however, a majority of Straight Talk’s subscribers prefer the Verizon network. Customers on AT&T’s network may be disappointed a little because of not able to use a mobile hotspot.

If you pay a multi-month payment, you can get Straight Talk’s $45/mo plan at a cheaper price. You can get it for 3, 6, or 12 month periods with great discounts of $5, $15, and $45 respectively. The price for 3-month is $130, for 6-month is $255 and for 12-month is $495.

Straight Talk has beautifully compared its $45 plan with other major carriers and tries to convince that it has no hidden fee while other carriers have phone fees, activation fees, etc extra that is why its $45 plan is the cheapest one.
