IT professionals use AnyDesk app, TeamViewer app or QuickSupport app to solve technical issues of their clients by remotely logging in their devices but fraudsters use these useful apps to steal money online from innocent citizens.
Every day you may be reading such stories in newspapers but even then people lose their money just by ignorant during fraudulent calls. Only those citizens gets looted who use online baking app or UPI app on their mobile phones.
Fraudsters make calls to victim by posing either some customer care executive from a bank or the victim himself calls customer care to solve some problems. Generally victim search number of customer care but he lands to a wrong site wherefrom he take bogus number and dial to these fraudsters.
In both cases, either fraudsters calls you or you are calling to a fake customer care number, the motive of the fraud caller is to force you to download the AnyDesk or TeamViewer QuickSupport app on your mobile phone.
As soon as app downloaded on your phone, the caller asks you 9-digit remote desk code. Once the victim gives the 9-digit code and allows app permissions, the fraudster can now see the screen of victim on his PC and can even control and record it.
Now fraudster ask the victim to transfer Rs 10 or Rs 20 to check the account functioning. Since fraudster can see whatever the victim is doing on his device, the moment victim types the ID/password of his banking or UPI app, the fraudster simply notes it down.
Now by knowing ID/Password, the fraudster steam money of the victim from his own device.
These scams happen when the victim opens online banking app or UPI app on his phone to do a transaction, without knowing that someone is watching through these remote supporting apps AnyDesk or TeamViewer QuickSupport.
Precautionary, never install any other app, which you don’t know or allows others to watch your activity on your phone.
