BSNL WiMax Broadband services are very useful for Rural customers, who are tempted to use high-speed broadband services. BSNL offers WiMax broadband services at affordable prices starting at Rs 240 Fixed Monthly Charges (FMC) on wireless technology. Peoples living in remote areas can avail WiMax Broadband services, where neither landline telephone network, fiber cable network exists nor Mobile services are available.
BSNL offers both prepaid and postpaid WiMax Broadband plans. There are two most popular WiMax broadband plans among customers, the users of the WiMax broadband Plan for FMC Rs 495 can use unlimited data at data speed up to 3Mbps while users of the WiMax broadband Plan of FMC Rs 675 experience faster data speed up to 8Mbps
BSNL’s WiMax Service is a very good service and has many more advantages over Landline broadband or 3G/4G data plans but because of poor marketing of this WiMax service, neither BSNL is able to encash it nor customers of the remote area are aware of this premium service and get benefit out of it.
BSNL’s WiMax broadband services are explained in details as below.
BSNL WiMax Broadband Prepaid
Prepaid WiMax service has 9 types of volume-based recharge vouchers starting from Rs 250 to Rs 3000, the validity varies from 7 days to 360 days, and allowed data allowances range from 1GB to 20GB as detailed below. Customers need to purchase CPE from BSNL or they may take it on rent.
BSNL WiMax Broadband Postpaid
Customers may choose any plan as per their need from eight postpaid plans from FMC Rs 240 to Rs 6300 as shown below. There are two unlimited plans for home users while three plans are for business use.
The rural customers who use 3G/4G data services on their smartphone or Data Cards (Dongle) know very well that they can use the Internet within the range of 3Km to 4Km from Mobile tower. But WiMax customers have the advantage of the availability of WiMax broadband services up to 15 Kms distance from the WiMax tower. This WiMax service is the boon and most suitable for customers who live in rural areas.
Because of the non-availability of a sufficient number of customers and viability, BSNL has shut down WiMax service at many places. WiMax services are available in Assam, North East States, Kerala, Odisha, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh so if you need this service, just visit the nearest BSNL office and enquire about WiMax service and availability in your locality. If you don’t find WiMax service in your area, you will definitely find BSNL AirFibre Broadband service in your rural area, which is more efficient and fast as compared to WiMax Service. BSNL AirFibre Plans are available up to 50Mbps download speed.

I
I am using bsnl wimax for the last one year and it is good to use and got good speed also, since i am living in village and for me it is good & affordable price, i use to pay Rs. 850 per month which is inclusive of all taxes and monthly rental also.
Now, bsnl is going to stop wimax services, i asked the reason but they are not disclosing, they said reliance is going to take over this plan. My request is that, can any one help me to find suitable plan in any other private mobile companies or bsnl to use internet in my village, i can able to pay a fee of Rs. 900 per month. Please recommend any plan soon, the existing wimax connection will lapse from 24th May 2014 onward.
Please treat the matter as most urgent.
