After announcing new roaming tariffs by Airtel, Idea and Tata DoCoMo, today BSNL and Vodafone also announced new free roaming plans for their all prepaid and postpaid customers.
BSNL announced rationalization of its all prepaid and post plans for the purpose of charging calls during roaming and also announced new roaming plans. Silent points of BSNL’s new rationalization of roaming plans are as.
- For all the existing prepaid plans, the charges for incoming call during roaming have been reduced from Rs 1/min to 75p/min.
- Two new prepaid plan “Roaming Tariff Plan (RTP) of Rs 405 and Roaming Tariff Plan free (RTP-FR) of Rs 705 with longer validity of 180 days have also introduced with some freebies in the form of free voice calls, SMS and data usage.
The details of Prepaid plans RTP and RTP-FR are as below.
- For Post paid plan of Rs 99 and Rs 175, the charges for incoming call during roaming have been reduced from Rs 1/min to 75p/min.
- Two new postpaid plan “Roaming tariff plan (RTP) 625 and Roaming Tariff Plan free (RTP-FR) -825 have also introduced with some freebies.
Postpaid RTP 625 allows freebies of voice call worth Rs 525, SMS worth Rs 50, Free data usage of 1GB, Free incoming calls worth Rs 250 and free outgoing calls worth Rs 150 free per month in roaming. Also subscriber will make local/STD calls at just 50/min on all network but this plan don’t offer free incoming calls during roaming, the subscriber will be charged 50p/min for all incoming calls beyond freebies offered in roaming area.
Postpaid RTP 825 allows freebies of voice call worth Rs 525, SMS worth Rs 50, Free data usage of 1GB, Free outgoing calls worth Rs 500 free per month in roaming. Also subscriber will make local/STD calls at just 50/min on all network. This plan offer all incoming calls free during roaming.
In both plan charges for video call will be 70p/min for local, Rs 1/min for STD and Rs 1.5/min for all local and STD video call during roaming area. Incoming video call during roaming will be charges at flat rate of Rs 1/min.
All the above BSNL plans are effective from 1 July 2013.
Vodafone announced new roaming tariffs, in line with Airtel’s pattern, Rs 5 per day plan for prepaid customers to receive incoming calls free during roaming and monthly plan vouchers starting from Rs 71 as per the states, with validity of 30 days to receive incoming calls free of cost during roaming. In all case, all outgoing local as well as STD call will be charges at the rate of 1.5p/sec.
In line with Airtel’s post paid voucher of Rs 79, Vodafone also announced Plan voucher of Rs 75 for its post-paid customers to receive all incoming calls free during roaming.
In addition to these plans, Vodafone also launched two new roaming plans, Roaming Tariff Plan (RTP) and Roaming Tariff Plan Free (RTP FR), for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. RTP users will get incoming calls at reduced rates while incoming calls will be free for subscribers of RTP-FR. The price of RTP-FR for prepaid customers starts from Rs 196 and varies by state and Rs 149 for its post-paid customers.
Now except Tata DoCoMo, all other operators have allowed their subscribers to receive free incoming calls during roaming at some fixed fee.
