Best Prepaid Cell Plan deal in Germany

Germany is a great place to visit for many foreigners. During visit Germany, for whatsoever purpose, be it as a tourist, for studying, business tour or many others purpose, you always want to be connected with your family, friends or office for which you need telecom services. You may use either your own country’s phone in Germany in roaming, but you may not like to pay hefty roaming charges.

Therefore, the best way is to go for a local prepaid connection in Germany.

Germany has three major carriers, namely Telekom, O2, and Vodafone, and may Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) also offer cellular services by using the network of these three major networks. As of now around 116 MVNOs are operational in Germany.

To get a mobile prepaid connection, you need to show your ID, foreigners may use their Hotel or Hostel address and their copy of Passport.

Before going for a prepaid connection, you should compare different cell phone plans of different carriers and their MVNO. Telekom network has 94% coverage with an average 38.6Mbps download speed while Vodafone network has 90% coverage with an average 26.2Mbps download speed. Blau is an MVNO that operates on the O2 network and also offers the same plans as ALDI TALK offers at €7.99, € 12.99, and € 17.99.

Tchibo Mobil uses the O2 network and has little costlier tariffs. It has smartphone plans for €7.99 for 1GB data, €9.99 for 3GB data, and €14.99 for 5GB data but it is available at a promotional price of €9.99. The highest plan price is €19.99 for 7GB data. All plans includes unlimited calls and texts.

Lidl Mobile, the Classic MVNO rides on the Vodafone network and offers four affordable plans at €4.99 for 1GB data plus 100 minutes call and unlimited SMS. The other plans are priced at €7.99, € 12.99 and € 17.99 for 3GB, 5GB, and 7GB data and unlimited calls &texts respectively.

Congstar by using Telekom network provides cell phone services but is costly as compared to other MVNOs. Congstar has the smallest 500MB data, 100 minutes free plan at €4.88. The next plan priced at €9.75 offers 3GB data and unlimited calls but SMS are chargeable at €0.09 per SMS. The 5GB plan costs €14.63 including unlimited calls.
