On the occasion of festival of Holi, BSNL has announced that it will offer 60% discount on charging of data beyond free allowance of data Add-ON from the billing cycle starting from 1-4-2016. This discount will be applicable to all its subscriber in all telecom circles across the country and with this offer BSNL is expecting to increase its postpaid connection base.
First of all, let us have a look on the data Add-Ons for a postpaid subscriber, below is the list of all available data add-ons.

Now suppose a subscriber using a postpaid connection with Add-ON of 2GB costing Rs 225 and by inadvertently he/she uses extra 500 MB data, then his/her additional bill for this extra data would be Rs 500 (at the rate of 1p/10KB of data). Rs 500 for 500MB of data is exorbitant but as per offer, subscriber will get 60% discount so his bill for extra data usage would become Rs 200 but it is still a bit much.
So you can see that without adding of data Add-ON, data usage is very costly and you must avoid to use extra data even BSNL offer 60% discount on its charging. For this subscribers are advised either to add high usage data Add-ON or be vigil for your data usage so that you can control it.
To check your data usage, you may use anyone of following USSD codes.

*124*1#
*124*4#
*112# etc
or you can check data by sending SMS : Type “USAGE DATA” and send it to 53738 or type “DATA3G” and send it to 53733.
With this analysis, you can judiciously take decision.
