When your mobile gets lost or stolen in that case IMEI is the only thing that can help you to track you’re lost/stolen mobile phone. The IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and this is a unique number of a mobile phone and has 15 digits.
You can know the IMEI of your mobile phone by following ways.
1. In case your phone is lost or stolen and you have not noted IMEI earlier then you can find IMEI from the original mobile phone packing box if you have kept that box preserved safely, you can find the International Mobile Equipment Identity of the mobile phone printed on the sticker on that mobile packing box.
2. International Mobile Equipment Identity number is also printed on the compliance plate where the battery of the mobile set is fitted, just lift the battery of the mobile and beneath the battery, you may find International Mobile Equipment Identity printed on the compliance plate of your mobile phone.
3. The easiest way to know the International Mobile Equipment Identity of a mobile phone is by pressing *#06# on your mobile phone and it will display its IMEI number in most phones.
In fact, International Mobile Equipment Identity is assigned to each GSM mobile phone when it is produced.
If you have noted the International Mobile Equipment Identity number safely, it can help in blocking your mobile phone if it is lost/ stolen. The mobile operator can block a Mobile handset by putting IMEI on the “black list” of the network’s EIR (Equipment Identity Register) but generally, mobile operators do this in case of special investigations only.
