Have you seen the latest logo_tatadocomo3TVC of Tata DoCoMo ? it shows Call across India @20p/min, Pay by seconds always. Actually Tata DoCoMo has a Special Tariff Voucher of MRP INR 33 for its all prepaid customer across all telecom circle where it has network.

The Special Tariff Vocher of INR 33 allows you to make all on-net call @20p/60sec for 30 days. Actually the operator charges your calls @1paise per second basis and your first 20 sec are charged with 1p/sec and rest 40 sec are free hence effective call rate is 20p/min.

The STV allows you to make all off-net calls, calls to mobile numbers of all other mobile operators, at the call rate of 40p/min. Here also the call rate is 1p/sec, first 40 sec are charged @1p/sec and rest 20 sec of the call is free.

Now the fine print of the STV is that your call to Landline number, whether local or STD, will be charges at flat rate of 2 paise per sec.

Here is screenshot of the STV. tata_docomoSTV33

The company have clandestinely not revealed the call rate after the 60 sec. Those who have used this STV, are requested to drop your experience in comment.

    • Tata DoCoMo priced the STV from Rs 31 to Rs 33 as per telecom circle, this STV of Rs 33 is for Kolkatta circle. Please check as per your telecom circle or contact their customer service center.

    • this plan doesn’t seem to be available in Mumbai yet, as of 7th Sept. At least that’s what ive been told when I spoke to a customer care executive. Total rubbish, they advertise for something thats not there?!?!?!?!?

  • When Ratan Tata was the chairman, there was complete transparency and no playing with words.

Earlier I used to recharge with Rs.26/- STV where in I used to get 1p/2sec plan and charges were deducted as below

    E.g
    Talktime 10secs – Charge 5 paise
    Talktime 20secs – Charge 10 paise
    Talktime 42Secs – Charge 21paise
    Talktime 55Secs – Charge 28paise
    Talktime 100Secs – Charge 50paise

However now they have changed the rules,
New STV is Rs.24/- and plan is 1p/2sec. However here the catch is first 30 seconds or part there of are charged 30paise and remaining 30 seconds are free

In the above example the new charges will be as below

    E.g
Talktime 10secs – Charge 30 paise (Costs 25paise more than earlier)
Talktime 20secs – Charge 30 paise (Costs 20paise more than earlier)
Talktime 42Secs – Charge 30 paise (Costs 9paise more than earlier)
Talktime 55Secs – Charge 30 paise (Costs 2paise more than earlier)
Talktime 100Secs – Charge 60 paise (Costs 10paise more than earlier)

So customer end up paying more and company making more money/profit now where as government does not get any revenue increase.

Ratan Tata, please come back…your transparency is great….
