O2 UK beats by cheapest 4G tariffs: Comparison

UK’s O2 launched the cheapest 4G tariff uk_4geevodao242to target at budget conscious customers, now it’s 4G tariff starts at £17 a month and come with unlimited texts, minutes and 1GB of data. Earlier this 1GB data plan was priced £22 so clearly O2 have reduced tariff by £5 i.e (30%).

For higher data users, now 5GB data plan costs them £22 which was earlier costing £27. One more alternative plan of 8GB has been made attractive by reducing its price from £32 to £27. All these plans are for 24 month contract and you have to pay extra for smartphone between £5 to £15 a month.

O2 has also announced a new attractive tariffs for 12 month SIM Only plans that are now priced at £21 for 1GB, £26 for 5GB and £31 for 8GB of data usage. All these plans includes unlimited talk and texts.

At the time of lauch of 4G services in August-2013, O2 had launched 24 month SIM only plans which costs just £5 more as compared to 12 month SIM only plans.

O2 has even launched the 4G tariffs which start at lowest price of £17, but whether it gives the value of your money. If we compare with Vodafone 4G Tariffs, which offers 6GB of data along with unlimited talk and text for £26, while O2 offers 5GB of data for the same price, we find Vodafone offers more value for your money. (But Vodafone’s tariff are as promotional offer till 31 January-2014 only, as an special promotional offer, Vodafone is offering 4G extra as bonus)

Other alternative from Vodafone are £31 for 8GB and £36 for 12GB of data usage.

EE, on the other hand, also has 4G tariffs starting £21 for a 12 month SIM Only plans but its prices increases as data usage increases, in comparison to O2’s new 4G tariffs. Have a look on below table, showing comparative tariffs for 12 month SIM only plans.

Is it the effect of “Three” UK, which is rolling out its 4G services this month in four cities of UK – London, Birmingham, Manchester and Reading – and plans to reach 50 by the end of 2014?

“Three” has also announced that 4G service will be provided to existing customers without any extra cost (means they will enjoy 4G service at 3G tariffs) and they will launch competitive 4G tariffs for new customers.
