Nokia unveil Asha 205 “Facebook phone” with SLAM technology at just $62

As per the Nokia Blog, Nokia has announced new Asha 205  with a dedicated Facebook button for the fastest access to the Facebook profile and more. Nokia Asha 205Asha 205 is a full QWERTY gadget for the young in emerging markets and comes in two variants, single SIM and dual SIM with a very affordable price tag, like the dual SIM version is starting at just $62 (approx Rs 3500).

The Nokia Asha 205 comes with the fancy vibrant new colors (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and white) now typical for Nokia, and runs on Series 40 (S40) operating system, which makes it a feature phone.

The dedicated Facebook button simply launches the Facebook app, and interestingly enough you can remap it to do something else like launch… Twitter, ironically.

The Dual SIM Nokia Asha 205 would come with Easy Swap Technology that lets you can change one of the SIM cards through a slot on the side, without even switching the phone off. Since Nokia is projecting it as a Social Super power it comes pre installed with Facebook, Twitter and eBuddy apps to connect with friends and family from the start.

With the launch of Nokia Asha 205, Nokia also debut of a brand new sharing technology from Nokia called ‘SLAM’ by which you will be able to send picture to all nearby Bluetooth-enabled gadgets without pairing with your Asha 205 phone. The other end gadgets even doesn’t need to have a Nokia phone or SLAM installed. You can also share using all the normal options like social networks and email.

The Nokia Xpress Browser  is preinstalled on Asha 205, which uses cloud-based servers to reduce data volumes by 90 per cent, saving owners money. The browser is optimized for social networks and content discovery, making it quick and easy to make updates or read the content you want. There’s also the very popular EA gift pack of 40 free premium games and other 1000 of free and paid games and apps to download and keep forever.

Standard features of Asha 205 are 2.4 Inch 65k colour QVGA TFT display with Full QWERTY Keyboard, standard connectivity features like GPRS/EDGE, 2.0 mm Charger Connector, Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR, 3.5 mm AV connector, 1020 mAh battery enough to give 11 hours of talk time.

One most important thing you can brag about with the Asha 205 is its great battery life that most smartphones can only dream of. The dual-SIM version of the device comes with a lower stand-by time of 25 days, versus the original 37 days for Single SIM variants.
