On the occasion of new year, BSNL has today launched one SMS pack on promotional basis for use on two blackout days i.e. on the eve of new year and on the new year in the price range of Rs 21 to Rs 24 (different prices for different telecom circles) to let their prepaid customers freely exchange good wishes for new year with their near and dear ones.
But the question is whether this SMS is relevant in this smartphone era?
Yes, because the smartphone penetration in India is merely 19.2 % as on today. The statistics shows mobile phone users in India is 78.93% that means still a large number of Indian population uses basis phones.
The Smartphone users are able to exchanges messages among them by using free messaging apps like Whatsapp, Facebook messenger etc but Basic Phone user have no option other than SMS services for sending messages.
Now the most critical question is, how many of these basic phone users uses messaging services/SMS ?
