BSNL offers Wi-Fi retail Hotspot vouchers

Updated: 26 July 2020: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new WiFi hotspot retail voucher for Rs 250 which will allow customers to use 125 GB data. The voucher has a validity of 28 days. This new WiFi hotspot retail voucher is available for Telangana Telecom circle only however BSNL has five more WiFi hotspot retail vouchers, which are available across the country.

The cheapest voucher is priced at Rs 9 for one-day validity and allows customers to use 1GB data. The next voucher costs Rs 19 and allows you to use 3GB data for 3 days. The WiFi hotspot retail vouchers priced at Rs 39, Rs 59, and Rs 69 allow you 7 GB data for 7 days, 15GB data for 15 days, and 30GB data for 30 days respectively. The details are as below.

BSNL launched WiFi HotSpot services way back in February 2015 and is proving at about 32000 locations by around 50000 hotspots across the country. The detailed list of WiFi hotspot locations is available here, click here.

BSNL is providing high-speed Internet connectivity WiFi HotSpot services in University campuses, Schools, Colleges, Hospitals, Public places, Post Offices Government offices, Parks, Gram Panchayats, health centers, and tourists Places & heritage sites of India.

BSNL provides WiFi Hotspots services across the country through below three models:

  1. BSNL, in Public-Private Partnership on revenue sharing basis with number System Integrators (like M/s QuadGen, M/s Trimax, and M/s GOIP).
  2. BSNL has also deployed MDO( Mobile Data Offload) solution on the Pan-India basis by establishing a Core Wi-Fi Network.  After off-loading of data traffic from mobile to Wi-Fi hot spot, mobile users continue to consume their mobile data plan but for accessing the internet they are automatically connected through high capacity Bandwidth provided to Wi-Fi hot spot. Hence, the Wi-Fi offload solution of BSNL would enable a much better experience to mobile users for accessing the internet through their mobile devices.
  3. BSNL has also entered into an agreement with USOF / DOT for setting up 25,000 Public Wi-Fi Hotspots at BSNL Telephone Exchanges in rural areas using BSNL Fiber network for providing the Internet services over Wi-Fi Network to all users. Under this agreement, BSNL is setting up one Access Point (AP) for each Wi-Fi Hotspots using its own bandwidth of 2 Mbps with a download of 4 Gb per device per month.

To access the internet from Wi-fi hot spots, you just need to latch on the BSNL wi-fi network through your mobile devices. An SMS will be sent with userid and password to your registered mobile number.

BSNL customers who are tempted for high-speed Internet use at an affordable price can now have many more options under WiFi hotspot plans.

BSNL has revamped its WiFi hotspot plan with revision in existing plans as well as introduction of new plans as shown below

BSNL has increased free data allowance and validity in its existing WiFi 30 plan while in the other three WiFi plans, free data allowance has been decreased but validity has been increased. The price of WiFi 90 and WiFi 150 has also been reduced to Rs 80 and Rs 100 respectively.

BSNL has also introduced seven new promotional WiFi hotspot plans for a period of 90 days for a price ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 599.  Customers can now avail 1GB of data for just Rs 60 or Rs 75 with a validity of 3 days and 7 days respectively. WiFi 240 plan offers 3GB data with a validity of 30 days for just Rs 240 while private operators are offering just 1GB of data in the price range of Rs 300.

The catch in availing these cheapest tariff plans is that BSNL is offering these tariffs at locations where there are no existing BSNL services so before opting for it, just check it with BSNL CSC.
