BSNL has installed Cache DNS Servers at 9 locations and Authoritative DNS servers at two locations and customers were facing browsing problems in case of any of these DNS server was unreachable and many field users and BSNL partners were used to switch to Google DNS 8.8.8. 8.8.4.4

So now BSNL has resolved this issue and implemented AnyCast DNS system in their BSNL network which has single DNS IP 61.1.1.1.

What is anycast DNS?

Earlier every DNS server was assigned different IP addresses like 218.248.x.y but now in AnyCast DNS, only one IP address is assigned to all DNS servers and anyone DNS server out of these 11 DNS server can respond to DNS queries. Typically the DNS server which is geographically closest will provide the response. This system reduces latency, improves uptime for the DNS resolving service, and provides protection against DNS flood DDoS attacks.

So now onward BSNL customers accessing BSNL services through broadband/ FTTH  etc will not face any issue while accessing BSNL services.
